Sneak peek into my Thursday :)

view from my bed

8:50 AM: Alarm rings. I press snooze.

9:00 AM: Alarm rings a second time, and I force myself to get out of bed. My first class is at 9:30, and at this rate, I'm going to be late.

9:30 AM: I'm not late to class!! My first class of the day happens to be the honors class that I am writing this blog post for. We discuss remix culture and the subtle differences between remixing and plagiarism, and when my professor talks about how she used to write fanfiction for the X Files, I think about all the fanfiction I used to read in high school. Is it possible to incorporate fanfiction into my remix project? Hmm, the possibilities.

11:00 AM: As as honors student, I'm encouraged to meet with my counselor at least once a quarter, and I think these meetings are honestly so helpful in clarifying questions and doubts I have about my path through college. During this meeting we actually have a serious discussion about possibly changing my major, and talking to my counselor Angel about all my possible plans helps clear my mind a lot.

12:00 PM: My second and last class of the day, learning how to program in java. This class and previous programming classes are the ones that have made me reconsider if this is really the path I want to take. The material is interesting, and when my code runs I'm ecstatic, but I have also spent a lot of late nights struggling. But as of right now, I'm going to a lot of office hours and trying my best to get the most out of this class as I can.

1:00 PM: I make my way to the Alumni Center to volunteer for Locks of Love, UCLA's annual hair donation event. Unfortunately, my hair is much too short to cut now, but I spend two hours interacting with volunteers and comforting a few scared children. I do these events in one sense to fulfill Alumni Scholar service hour requirements, but they are always rewarding in their own right.

5:00 PM: It's been a long day, and I walk down to Westwood to meet with a friend and get some much needed boba. Ever since Sharetea opened in Westwood, my boba consumption has skyrocketed. My first stamp card

is almost full, and I look forward to a free drink!

6:45 PM: Sproul Cove Landing, the dorm where I live and where I am a programming assistant, is hosting College Bowl tonight, and I work the event for an hour. I help set up for four floors and kindly kick people out of the lounges (I feel really bad about that) and even get to judge one round! The amount of trivia that some people know is amazing.

7:45 PM-11:00 PM: Because of College Bowl, I'm late to my Thursday night dance practice. I'm a dance captain for lofi, a Foundations Choreography beginner training team, and it's a lot of spreadsheets, group chats, stress, and worry, but it's one of the most fulfilling experiences I've had so far in college. Dance has given me so much since I was a freshman, and I'm honored to be able to give back. Tonight, we learn our last set piece, a femme piece, and I'm excited because I haven't danced femme in a year! My old captains also stop by and give me a care package because they know how tired I am. I love them a lot.

1:00 AM: I'm still coding. It's sometimes really hard to fit in time to do homework and study between dance and all the other things I have to do.

3:00 AM: Finally hit the pillow. It's been an exciting but long day.
